As an instructor at the ITALIAN SPORTS CENTER, I attend courses and internships throughout Italy
Groundwork is the only phase where the rider can take all the time it takes to observe and listen to its horse, without bothering to think about itself. At the same time, the horse, unburdened of the saddle and horseman’s weight, is able to move its whole body in its own natural balance, without any obstacles or limitations.
Connection between man and horse should start from groundwork. Each one becomes aware of the other, free from the physical dependence and all those related to riding. The horse interprets its rider’s reactions and therefore the rider works hard on understanding what the horse wants to communicate through various signals. We should learn how to use this fundamental skill.
If used respecting certain rules, it is an essential system to enhance your knowledge about your horse, find out its weaknesses and helping it to go beyond them, and also to improve your relationship with the horse.
